The Apprentice Mechanic class provides in-depth and formalized bicycle mechanic skills training. Students will learn and practice the skills needed to be considered an Apprentice Mechanic and will receive an Apprentice Mechanic Certificate upon successful completion. The program then places outstanding students in paid apprenticeships at local bike shops and bicycle-centric organizations to further develop their skills, provide them with work experience, and assist them in building their resume. The Apprentice Program provides youth with bicycle mechanic skills training, mentorship, and real-world work experience through paid apprenticeships.
The purpose of this program is to provide youth with bicycle mechanic skills training as well as employment opportunities. This mentorship program provides the participant with marketable skills that allow them to maintain their bikes and those of their friends, and that may also be listed on a resume for future job opportunities.
